Camp Professionals from JCC Association-affiliated Day Camps are invited to participate in this special gathering.  Beginning Monday evening, March 12th, we’ll come together to begin a week of learning, networking and development of meaningful strategies for your camp and the JCC Day Camping movement. The first day and a half (Monday evening and Tuesday) will be focused on JCC Day Camp-specific content, including top notch educators, round-table discussions, networking with JCC colleagues and more.  JCC Association will also host Lunch n’ Learn sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. Session topics will include meaningful ways to bring Israel and a Jewish lens to your camp programming, effectively working with non-Jewish staff and campers in a Jewish setting, best practices in the field of Jewish Day Camping and more.

8:30 AM - 4:30 PM - New Directors' Orientation - Scott Lantzman, Andy Pritikin,

Speakers:

This 8-hour interactive ACA National course provides an overview of key aspects of the camp director’s job and is intended for seasoned or new camp directors, assistant directors, program directors, or people who have been in other administrative positions and are considering directing camp in the near future. The course will cover areas with special focus offered on leadership, risk management, camper behavior, staff training, and staff supervision. Upon completion of this one-day course, the ACA National office will mail you a certificate of completion, suitable for framing.

Cost for ACA Members is $89 per person. Nonmembers pay $99 per person. Cost includes a light breakfast and lunch and full course curriculum. Sign up using the registration form or add to your registration with the Add Attendee/Event form.

Camps/programs going through the accreditation process for the first time, Currently accredited camps/programs that have someone new coordinating and preparing the documentation for their visit, Currently accredited camps/programs that have someone new taking the lead during the actual on-site visit, and ALL new visitors criteria will need to have an individual who will be actively involved in the preparation of materials and who will be on-site the day of the visit attend the Full Standards Course (length between 5.5 and 6 hours). We are all looking for ways to grow as camp professionals, to make greater contributions to our organizations, and to learn more about the ever expanding industry that camping has become.  How do you as a young camp professional begin to learn about other aspects of camp, outside of your own area of expertise?  Join us for an exciting day of educational sessions with your peers, featuring Steve Maguire.  Steve will kick-off the workshop with an informational and interactive session to help all of us to assess our own skills.  The afternoon will feature 2 rounds of break-out sessions, highlighting the following topics:  1)  Scheduling - how does your camp put together the camp schedule - spreadsheets, pen/pencil, computer program?  2) Purchasing/Budgeting 3)  Managing Capital Projects, How to have and deal with difficult conversations, 4)  Staffing (led by Steve Maguire) and 5)  SWOT analysis – a way to evaluate your camp and new ideas by its Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.  We hope that you will join us for this exciting and interactive conference workshop.
