EPIC Pre Conference

Emerging Professionals in Camping is a network of young people who seek to engage with peers in the camp industry. EPIC is dedicated to providing a forum for networking and career development through conferences, workshops and social events.

EPIC seeks to...

• Address the educational and social networking needs of camp employees who are rising in our industry (i.e. new directors, assistant associate directors, other full time positions, seasonal employees, and other camp professionals who just entered or wish to enter the camp industry).
• Provide programs that are interactive, innovative, social and germane to where individuals are in their careers.
• Create experiential opportunities for EPICs to learn, network, and give back within the camp world.

This year’s EPIC Pre-Conference workshop will be held Tuesday March 13th from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Cost of $75pp includes lunch. Sign up using the registration form  or add to your registration with the add attendee/event form. 

EPIC PreConference Workshop: Maximizing Your Value at Camp

We are all looking for ways to grow as camp professionals, to make greater contributions to our organizations, and to learn more about the ever expanding industry that camping has become.  How do you as a young camp professional begin to learn about other aspects of camp, outside of your own area of expertise?   Join us for an exciting day of educational sessions with your peers, featuring Steve Maguire.  Steve will kick-off the workshop with an informational and interactive session to help all of us to assess our own skills.  The afternoon will feature 2 rounds of break-out sessions, highlighting the following topics:  1)  Scheduling - how does your camp put together the camp schedule - spreadsheets, pen/pencil, computer program?  2) Purchasing/Budgeting  3)  Managing Capital Projects, How to have and deal with difficult conversations, 4)  Staffing (led by Steve Maguire) and 5)  SWOT analysis – a way to evaluate your camp and new ideas by its Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.  We hope that you will join us for this exciting and interactive conference workshop.

EPIC Food Drive

As good camp people, we all like to leave our environment even better than we found it. Our emerging Professionals in Camping (EPIC) group believes this value should apply to our conference environment as well. The EPIC Food Drive will provide food to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission; a great Atlantic City organization that feeds people in need. You can donate to the food drive prior to the conference on the conference registration or add attendee/event forms. You can also support the food drive at the conference by making a donation on site. All funds will be used to buy 10-15 staple items in large quantities that will be donated to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission.
