A one day conference for professionals in the not for profit camp industry. Come and hear from professionals about trends in the industry (funding/staffing/programming), learn from colleagues and share ideas, and participate in break-out discussions and group work.

Price: $20 for Members, $25 for Non-Members

Full Standards Course: Fiver Children’s Foundation, New York, NY (THIS COURSE IS FULL!)

The purpose of the ACA Standards Course is to prepare camp directors and administrators for their accreditation visits and to serve as an introduction to the standards program for those interested in becoming accreditation visitors.

The person completing the ACA Standards Course is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit and to participate fully in the on-site visit. ACA membership is NOT a prerequisite for this course.

Due to revisions to the standards ALL CAMPS must attend a standards course or standards update before their accreditation visit in 2015.

Joe Kruger Youth Development Conference: I Can’t Keep Calm Because I Have Anxiety

The 2014 Joe Kruger Conference will focus on “I Can’t Keep Calm Because I Have Anxiety.” With a growing population of campers, parents and staff arriving at camp with diagnosed and undiagnosed levels of anxiety, keynote speaker, Catherine Steiner-Adair will address the variety of social pressures our camp populations are facing at home and bringing with them in their duffel to camp. Steiner-Adair, along with a number of fantastic break-out speakers, will provide hands on tools for dealing with our camp families and staff as they navigate their way through their summer experience. Associate Visitor Course (New Visitor Training): Camp Horizons (South Windham, Connecticut)

ACA's Associate Visitor course helps participants identify the purpose and structure of ACA's accreditation programs and understand the steps of the process at the camp, section, and national levels. Participants become familiar with the legal implications of visitor actions, as well as develop skills in gathering information, making compliance decisions, and consistently applying the standards in a variety of situations. This course stresses the awareness and acceptance of the intent of the standards to represent accepted practices of organized camping.

Prerequisite: Participants must be at least twenty-one years of age, a current ACA member, and completion of a Standards Course.
