The purpose of the ACA Standards Course is to prepare camp directors and administrators for their accreditation visits and to serve as an introduction to the standards program for those interested in becoming accreditation visitors.

The person completing the ACA Standards Course is expected to actively assist the camp in preparation for the accreditation visit and to participate fully in the on-site visit. ACA membership is NOT a prerequisite for this course.

Due to revisions to the standards ALL CAMPS must attend a standards course or standards update before their accreditation visit in 2015.

This training is designed especially for visitors and serves as the required Visitor Update for 2015. Come learn about the newly revised standards, get set for the summer of 2015. Visitors that attend the Visitor Update Course will receive credit AND their participation will also “count” as the Standards Update for the camp or program they are affiliated with.

Associate Visitor Course: Hidden Valley, Fresh Air Fund Camp, Fishkill, NY

ACA's Associate Visitor course helps participants identify the purpose and structure of ACA's accreditation programs and understand the steps of the process at the camp, section, and national levels. Participants become familiar with the legal implications of visitor actions, as well as develop skills in gathering information, making compliance decisions, and consistently applying the standards in a variety of situations. This course stresses the awareness and acceptance of the intent of the standards to represent accepted practices of organized camping.

Prerequisite: Participants must be at least twenty-one years of age, a current ACA member, and completion of a Standards Course. Participants will also need to complete some online pre-course assignments.
